InspireMyKids was recently reviewed and highlighted as a Featured Site here by the outstanding and free teacher resource website, TeachersFirst.com.  Among the practical ways their editors envision using InspireMyKids in the classroom:

“Share stories from the site on your interactive whiteboard or projector when learning about character traits such as sportsmanship, perseverance, and responsibility. Use the site as a resource when problems arise in the classroom such as bullying, intolerance, or special needs awareness. Have students use resources from the website as models for writing their own articles or creating a podcast. Use a site such as PodOmatic (reviewed here). Use the stories as models for writing activities and essays. Your students could also draw inspiration from this site to create values comics using one of many comic creation tools”

Another fantastic and very popular free resource for teachers, freetech4teachers.com, recently featured InspireMyKids on their site.  You can read their review here.

The wonderful teacher-focused blog, Larry Ferllazzo’s Website of the Day, which focuses on uncovering great resources for teaching ELL, ESL and ELA, recently highlighted InspireMyKids as his list of Best Popular Movies/TV Shows For ESL/EFL.

In 2011, InspireMyKids was cited as one of only 16 websites to be added as a “Great Website for Kids” by The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association.   The list features sites are that “are considered the best web sites for ages birth to 14; outstanding in both content and conception.”   The full list of sites can be found at www.ala.org/greatsites.
