Angelo Whittis – From Homeless to Honor Roll and Champion QB
Angelo Whittis has grown up without a solid family life. He was moved from relative to relative, sleeping on couches and in cars. He struggled both in school and out of school. He became one of over 1 million homeless children in the United States.
Then, everything changed. When he was 15, and thinking about attending a new school, he met River Rouge High School Football Coach Cory Parker. After Angelo joined the football team, Coach Parker learned that Angelo was homeless. He also learned more about Angelo’s tough family life and he wanted to help him both on and off the field.
On the field, he helped Angelo get training to become a quarterback and gain weight from working out. Off the field, Coach Parker and his wife offered to take Angelo into their home to live with them!
With the love and support Angelo has received from Coach Parker and his teammates, he has turned his life around. He is now an honor-roll student, a champion quarterback and big brother to the Parker’s son. Angle is also on course to attend college.
