One Is Greater Than None 1

Baubles of Brotherly Love From Eight Teenage Girls

In 2007, eight girls from New York watched Oprah’s TV show one day. The show was called “The Little Boy That Oprah Couldn’t Forget”. It was about a boy from Ghana, Africa who had been sold into slavery, a practice that happens in that country every day. The story touched their hearts and they wanted to help. The girls learned that a group was able to rescue children for about $4,300 each. So the girls decided to raise the money by selling handmade bracelets. Their first time selling the bracelets, the girls raised $1,000!

The girls went on to create One Is Greater Than None, based on the idea that even one person can do something to make a difference. Now they also sell necklaces and t-shirts and have helped rescue dozens of children in Ghana! Recently, they have also begun helping an American group called Remote Area Medical (RAM) that provides free medical care to people in poor rural areas. This video tells all about One is Greater Than None.
