Cullen Jones – Olympian Goes From Nearly Drowning to Saving Lives

When Cullen Jones was 5 years old he nearly drowned.  Instead of letting this horrible incident create more fear around water, Cullen decided instead to become a good swimmer. But not just any good swimmer.

In case you have not heard of him, Cullen Jones is the first African American to win an Olympic Gold Medal in swimming!  He did so at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

And not only did Cullen improve himself to overcome his fear of swimming, but he now spends much of his time helping children learn how to swim. Hundreds of children each year drown in the United States.  Learning how to swim can prevent 80% of these tragedies.
