Dory Gannes – Helping Children in Need Through The Olevolos Project

When Dory Gannes was eight years old, she and her family took a trip to East Africa. The poverty and poor living conditions she saw there were very different from her life back in America, and this touched her deeply. But what she didn’t know at the time was just how much that experience would affect her future………

In 2005, while in college, Dory went back to Africa – to Tanzania – to do volunteer work. As she worked with the children there, she knew that she wanted to do more. So in 2007,  Dory decided to do just that  – she started an organization called The Olevolos Project to educate the orphans and underpriveleged kids of Olevolos Village in Tanzania. Today, The Olevolos Project has created a school to educate the kids and begun other community projects as well, bringing new hope every day to the lives of the people of Olevolos Village!
