Evan Moss – Getting a "Shot at Life as a Regular Kid", Thanks to Mindy the Dog!
For a seven-year-old boy, life can be fun and adventurous – school during the day, sports and other activities on nights and weekends, and lots of playtime with family and friends. But imagine being a boy who can’t do any of those things, because they are too dangerous for you. This was exactly the case for young Evan Moss – due to a severe form of epilepsy, he couldn’t do the things other kids his age enjoyed. Wanting to help Evan live a normal life, his family found out that if he had a seizure dog, it could detect his seizures so that he could live much more normally. However, they couldn’t afford such a dog, so they came up with a creative plan…..
To raise money for a seizure dog, Evan wrote a book telling the world just how great his life could be if only he had such a dog! The book, called My Seizure Dog, was published by Amazon, and sales took off! The end result was that Evan raised enough money not only for his own seizure dog, Mindy, but also for seven other kids like himself get seizure dogs of their own!
In this video, Evan and his mom talk about the success of Evan’s book.
