Mona Counts – Helping Where It's Needed Most

As a nurse and professor at Penn State University, Mona Counts has many achievements to her name. But her most significant accomplishment is not in a hospital or on a college campus. It’s in the Appalachian Mountains……

In 1994, Mona saw that the poor, rural Appalachian community she lived in desperately needed healthcare. So Mona established the Primary Care Center of Mount Morris, a place that provides care for the Appalachian people in an effective, comfortable way and regardless of ability to pay. The center also has a mobile clinic that brings healthcare to those who can’t travel far. Mona’s selfless dedication to the center has helped it, even in difficult times, bring healthcare to people who greatly need it.

This video tells the story of Mona and the Primary Care Center of Mount Morris.
