Point Hope – A Voice for Forgotten Children
One hot summer night many years ago, radio personality Delilah Rene Luke was broadcasting in Philadelphia, PA. Jokingly, she described for her listeners a place in Alaska called Point Hope where they might seek refreshment from the hot temperatures. Later, she reflected on her joke, and she realized that the name Point Hope could truly mean a place of refreshment and renewal for those in need. Thus, the idea for her Point Hope organization was born.
Point Hope started off as a street mission in Philadelphia, helping improve the lives of the homeless and poverty-stricken. In 2004, Point Hope turned its attention to Budubupam, Ghana, helping widows and orphans in a refugee camp there. Today, Point Hope strives to help children all over the world, giving them the hope for a brighter tomorrow!
